I believe that our founding fathers created a Republic and felt that a Democracy was a bad idea. There are five forms or six forms of government and many types beneath them. The forms are
Anarchy, Democracy, Ologarchy, Monarchy Republic (Theocracy could be concidered the sixth). Some of the differing types are Capitalism, Fasism, Socialism. Comunism, ect.
Anarchy ( An-no, archy-government) and Democracy (majority rules) are basically transitional forms of goverment changing one form into another form of Government. Anarchy, is the fast way used to establish change, (for without Authority chaos arises until someone or a few bring about an authority, benevolant or violent, to establish calm.) Democracy is the slow way. It was concidered by many Greeks to be the worst form of government because the majority most of the time elect from emotional feelings instead of reason and logic.
Ologarchy is basically a group or party rules as the Russians Communist Party or the Domo.
Monarchy is one person rules as a king, a czar, dictator, Pope etc.
Republic ( from the latin RES-thing PUBLICA-people) The soceity is divided and elect people to represent them in making LAWS ((Latin LEX, LEGIS meaning law( its where we get the term LEGISLATURE from))
Our founding Fathers did not trust the other forms of government but felt that a Rebublic would best represent the populis because small groups tend to vote for those more intellegent and dedicated than themselves. In fact John Adams did not want the House of Representatives because it represented the masses who were ignorant in politics.
In 1958 a soldiers manual read that we were a Republic who elected officials to represent us in making laws but after 1958 it read that we were a Democracy and the majority rules. I prefer the Republic as did Brutus. I know that we still operate as a republic but there is the cry of why we do not go to the populis vote.
I feel our country is the best thing going but our downfall is being brought about by Greed and Arrogance. We as a Republic under a Capitalistic type of government was almost condemned by the Popes of the past for being self indulgent, greedy and to focused on material things.. The only reason it was not is that we had usery laws in place. Where are they now?
I believe that most politians go into office with noble ideas but power corrupts and Washington is the market place for corruption as each seeks to satisfy his own agenda and not the good of the whole. It is amazing that we have chosen to be our brothers keepers. Maybe that is why God has not struck!
These thoughts have all been hashed over from the Greeks, to the Romans, to the Franks and through the ages. Here am I a small mind amoungst the giants that hame gone before me and will come after me. But for me I stand objectively with my beliefs.

Thoughts on why I am Catholic
I am a cradle born Catholic and went into the minor seminary in my younger years. When I matured I began a study why I was a Catholic. I went out to other religeons deemed Protestant but in my search of their dogmas and doctrines I found too many question in their reasoning, logic and history of their ideas. I did not believe that history (tradition) did not play a part in Christiandom. I went to college and studied world religions. I eventually came to the conclusion that I believed that there was a God and that this God was monotheistic. The Jewish religion of the two oldest (Hinduism and Judaism) was the only monotheistic and I was not into the pagans. Coming up into this religion and getting into it's prophetic writings I found the more than 300 predictions of a Messianic coming. I came to the believe that Jesus was the Christ and fulfilled all of the prophesies made of this Messiah. I found that I also discovered that it is a matter of history and truth that He (Jesus) founded the Catholic Church. In believing that Jesus was the Christ, started the Catholic church I believed that all I could be was a Catholic. If Jesus was not God then I could only be Jewish. This is a simplified reasoning for my being Catholic. There are many more complexities that can explain these beliefs of mine but they will come later. Your Brother in Christ....Francis Xavier LeSage
How many souls
How many souls that have gone by
Have seen the sunrise such as I,
Seen the moon in the morning sky,
Had a flower catch their eye?
How many souls now dead and gone,
Had wondered why they were born,
Had listen to the swallows song
Or contemplate why ants are strong?
How many souls now laid to rest,
Finished out their lifetime quest,
Felt content they'd done their best,
Ran the race and past the test?
There are many souls I am sure,
Have faced these thoughts that I endure,
Have sang the same rhetorical score,
And contemplated all this before.
