Thoughts on why I am Catholic
I am a cradle born Catholic and went into the minor seminary in my younger years. When I matured I began a study why I was a Catholic. I went out to other religeons deemed Protestant but in my search of their dogmas and doctrines I found too many question in their reasoning, logic and history of their ideas. I did not believe that history (tradition) did not play a part in Christiandom. I went to college and studied world religions. I eventually came to the conclusion that I believed that there was a God and that this God was monotheistic. The Jewish religion of the two oldest (Hinduism and Judaism) was the only monotheistic and I was not into the pagans. Coming up into this religion and getting into it's prophetic writings I found the more than 300 predictions of a Messianic coming. I came to the believe that Jesus was the Christ and fulfilled all of the prophesies made of this Messiah. I found that I also discovered that it is a matter of history and truth that He (Jesus) founded the Catholic Church. In believing that Jesus was the Christ, started the Catholic church I believed that all I could be was a Catholic. If Jesus was not God then I could only be Jewish. This is a simplified reasoning for my being Catholic. There are many more complexities that can explain these beliefs of mine but they will come later. Your Brother in Christ....Francis Xavier LeSage
